Deleting your Kotisso account

What deletion erases, what it leaves behind, and why.

From the app

Open “My account”, then “Delete my account” at the bottom of the page. Kotisso asks for your password, shows you what is about to disappear, and deletes the account immediately.

What is erased

Your name, your email address, your password and your avatar photo, erased from the server. Your premium subscription is cancelled and your billing customer deleted at Stripe, which keeps only the invoices already issued, as accounting law requires. Groups where you were alone are deleted with their expenses.

What stays

The expenses you paid, the shares that were yours and the settlements you made stay in the groups you shared, under the name “Former member”. Nothing there points at a person any more.

The reason fits in one sentence: in a group, the balances always add up to zero. Erasing your lines would make money disappear from the tally of the other members, who asked for nothing.

If your balance is not zero

Deletion waits until you have settled up, in every group where you are not alone. It is the same rule as leaving a group: you go neither owing nor owed. Record the settlements that are missing, and deletion opens.

If you can no longer sign in
